• Facts and some Curiosities •
• Earned a B.S. degree from the School of Speech (now the School of Communications) at Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois).
• On "ER" (1994) episode #2.21, "ER: Take These Broken Wings (#2.21)" (1996), Karen Hines, the character she played, wears a Northwestern University pullover.
• Has a son: Hugh Howard Rosenberg; born Oct 21, 1990 and named after Marg's father, who died in 1986 of complications from Multiple Sclerosis.
• Got her start as a local news weather girl in her native Nebraska. The news producer felt her name was too long and made her change it to Margi McCarty. This was her night job. Her day job was as a meat boner at the meat packing plant where her father was a meat inspector.
• Her Hollywood home once belonged to silent movie star William S. Hart
• Six years before the premiere of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2000), she and Gary Dourdan starred together in an unsuccessful TV series pilot called Keys (1994) (TV).
• Had a plane scare while attempting to fly from Dallas, Texas to Omaha, Nebraska. The pilot aborted take-off after the plane blew two tires. Marg eventually made it to Omaha. [October 20, 2005]
• Sister-in-law of Mark Rosenberg and Paula Weinstein.
• Middle of 3 children. Her older sister is Ann Helgenberger (jazz musician) and her younger brother is Curt Helgenberger (a meat inspector)
• Daughter of Hugh Helgenberger, who was a meat inspector, and Kay Helgenberger, who was a nurse. Marj originally wanted to be a nurse like her mother.
• Her mother, Kay, is an Irish American and her father, Hugh, was a German American.
• Meet husband Alan in 1984 and they started dating in 1986.
• In 2007, Marg was asked to do a spread for Playboy, but she declined.
• Marg was #41 on Entertainment Weekly's The EW 100 Stars We Love Right Now in summer 2007.
• After Ryan’s Hope ended, Marg got another chance to share the screen with husband Alan Rosenberg, when he starred as a man out to murder her in After Midnight.

• When CSI first started filming, Marg visited the Clark County Coroner’s Office (Las Vegas) to see how things were really done. She even viewed autopsies that were being performed.
• Marg has stated that she was angered at the franchising of CSI.
• Marg has stated that she is unlikely to stay past her current contract on CSI which ends in 2008.
• In 2000, Marg played Patsy Ramsey in the made for TV movie Perfect Murder, Perfect Town: JonBenét and the City of Boulder based on the events of the child beauty queen’s murder.
• The cast of CSI including Marg was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. They won the award in 2005.
• Marg got the chance to act with her husband, Alan Rosenberg, again when he guest starred on CSI, season 5, “Weeping Willows”.
• Marg’s husband, Alan Rosenberg, is the current president of the Screen Actor’s Guild.
• Marg and Jorja Fox (CSI) sang Stand by Me as a duet for What a Pair 4!! This is an annual charity event to raise money for breast cancer research.
• Marg's character, Catherine Willows, along with the character of Gil Grissom, was named number 82 in "Bravo's 100 Greatest TV Characters".
